8.9.2007 - Gwent County - Crusaders 2-4 Sudbrook Cricket Club

Match : Crusaders Reserves V Sudbrook (Gwent County Division 3)
Conditions: Very Warm
Attendance: Pretty Good
Referee: A good 1
Venue: Fields Park
Date: 08/09/2007

Back at Fields Park where Crusaders take on promotion hopefuls Sudbrook. Even Gilk Junior was unleashed from the sticks as Dai Thomas made few changes to the line up. Crusaders are yet to settle, despite winning last week.

Crusaders took the lead after 10 minutes when Dan Morris cross come shot was met by Louty, who hit it in the top of the net. 1-0 Crusaders.

It only took 5 minutes for Sudbrook to equalise, as their defender scored a header from a corner. Crusaders failed to defend these tidily all game, 1-1.

Despite Crusaders not being able to defend (all over, they tried to carry on attacking and got their rewards on half hour as Pie Mans magic footwork saw him get a cross in to dancing Dane Whittaker to head home. 2-1 Crusaders.

Sudbrook kept on attacking with pace and equalised as Crusaders big barnet keeper rushed into no mans land for the ball and was rounded. He was having a good game up until now, but still, 2-2.

Over the years Crusaders have had a nack of conceding on the stroke of half time and that trend continued to make the 2nd half an up-hill struggle 3-2 Sudbrook.

Sudbrook always had an element of control in the 2nd period, but Crusaders were going about the game the right way, in trying to get something from the game. Unfortunately with 10 minutes left, left back Mostyn, put the ball on a plate for Sudbrooks sub and he blasted it in for 4-2 Sudbrook.

Overall a decent performance from the Crus, despite struggling against a very good attacking Sudbrook. If they tightened up at the back, they could be serious contenders for promotion.

As for the Crus though, the team really doesn't look like settling as each game sees a few changes, the long hard season continues.
